Description

A classic sweet treat made with sugar, corn syrup, and flavorings.


Ingredients

  • 2 cups sugar
  • 1 cup corn syrup
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon flavoring (e.g., vanilla, peppermint)
  • 1 tablespoon butter

Instructions

  1. In a saucepan, mix sugar, corn syrup, water, and salt.
  2. Cook over medium heat until the mixture reaches 250°F (hardball stage).
  3. Remove from heat and stir in flavoring and butter.
  4. Allow to cool slightly, then butter your hands and pull the taffy until it becomes light and airy.
  5. Cut into pieces and wrap in wax paper.

Notes

  • Store in an airtight container.
  • You can use food coloring for different colors.
  • Be careful with hot sugar syrup.
