Description

A rich and creamy classic chocolate mousse that melts in your mouth.


Ingredients

Scale
  • 8 ounces dark chocolate, chopped
  • 3 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 4 large eggs, separated
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 cup heavy cream

Instructions

  1. Melt the chocolate and butter together in a double boiler.
  2. Whisk the egg yolks and sugar until pale and thick.
  3. Fold the melted chocolate mixture into the egg yolk mixture.
  4. In a separate bowl, whip the cream until soft peaks form.
  5. Fold the whipped cream into the chocolate mixture.
  6. In another bowl, beat the egg whites until stiff peaks form.
  7. Gently fold the egg whites into the chocolate mixture.
  8. Pour the mousse into serving dishes and refrigerate for at least 2 hours.

Notes

  • Serve chilled.
  • You can top with whipped cream or chocolate shavings.
  • Store leftovers in the refrigerator.
