Description
A classic Spanish dessert, churros are fried dough pastries coated in sugar.
Ingredients

- 1 cup water
- 2 tablespoons sugar
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1 tablespoon vegetable oil
- Oil for frying
- 1/2 cup sugar (for coating)
- 1 teaspoon cinnamon (for coating)
Instructions
- In a saucepan, combine water, 2 tablespoons sugar, and salt. Bring to a boil.
- Remove from heat and stir in flour until the mixture forms a ball.
- Let cool slightly, then stir in 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil.
- Heat oil in a deep fryer or large pot to 375°F (190°C).
- Scoop the dough into a piping bag fitted with a star tip.
- Pipe strips of dough into the hot oil, cutting them to your desired length.
- Fry until golden brown, about 2-3 minutes per side.
- Remove and drain on paper towels.
- Mix 1/2 cup sugar and cinnamon. Roll churros in the mixture while warm.
Notes
- Serve with chocolate sauce for dipping.
- Churros are best enjoyed fresh.
- You can store leftovers in an airtight container for up to 2 days.
