Description

A classic Spanish dessert, churros are fried dough pastries coated in sugar.


Ingredients

  • 1 cup water
  • 2 tablespoons sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 tablespoon vegetable oil
  • Oil for frying
  • 1/2 cup sugar (for coating)
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon (for coating)

Instructions

  1. In a saucepan, combine water, 2 tablespoons sugar, and salt. Bring to a boil.
  2. Remove from heat and stir in flour until the mixture forms a ball.
  3. Let cool slightly, then stir in 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil.
  4. Heat oil in a deep fryer or large pot to 375°F (190°C).
  5. Scoop the dough into a piping bag fitted with a star tip.
  6. Pipe strips of dough into the hot oil, cutting them to your desired length.
  7. Fry until golden brown, about 2-3 minutes per side.
  8. Remove and drain on paper towels.
  9. Mix 1/2 cup sugar and cinnamon. Roll churros in the mixture while warm.

Notes
